Pepperwood Signature Homes’ eco-friendly mantra “green saves you green” is indicative of its mission to build homes that are as environmentally friendly as they are affordable — giving green-conscious homeowners the best of both worlds. Since 1983, the company has dedicated its business to custom design, remodeling and renovation while using high-quality products that are durable. Builder Christopher Tsonton, the president of Home Builder’s Association (HBA) of Greater Cleveland, along with Greyhawk partner Jason Scott, works directly with clients to ensure precision in the final product.
With custom-home and remodeling projects currently in Lorain, Summit, Cuyahoga and Medina counties, Tsonton says it’s important for his company and other builders to look for sustainability in the items they use. “We want to use products that will last you a long time — ones made out of recyclable material — so you’re reusing them and not filling landfills with more products,” he says.
His latest Green Home Tour entry, the Meadowbrook, does just that. The 2,027-square-foot ranch home is small but powerful in its energy-saving capabilities. The hybrid heating-and-cooling system limits the use of fossil fuels, while insulation made from recycled fiberglass, low-flow toilets and carpeting with low gas emissions add to the home’s green amenities. The home’s features, all American Standard, are easy on the environment and cost efficient for the consumer.
