Prestige Homes has been building homes throughout Northeast Ohio for more than 30 years. While planning its energy-efficient homes, Vice President of Sales Jon Russell, says Prestige also works to keep the new homeowner’s budget in mind. “We closely evaluate each option considering the initial cost and the relative energy savings,” he says.

The company’s 5,638-square-foot Green Home Tour home received a Gold Rating from the Northeast Ohio Green Building Initiative, a Home Energy Rating of 5 Stars+ and a final HERS rating of 55. It includes an upgraded insulation package, including both blown-fiberglass wall insulation and structural foam insulation board on the exterior of the home. The heating system features a high-efficiency gas furnace and a 19-SEER heat pump system enabling the most efficient use of fuels. The home’s wood flooring is made from reclaimed materials. “Our Energy Star Rater is involved in the process from plans to building stage inspections to completion testing,” says Rick Lambes, vice president of production.

The home is situated on a 1-acre lot and opens to acres of green space behind the home. The four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom ranch home is designed with Old World styling. It features an open floor plan, including a gourmet kitchen with stone countertops, a covered rear porch with a fireplace and an entertainment-oriented finished basement with a walkout to the patio.
